Christina Felfe de Ormeno

Christina Felfe is Professor and Head of the Department of Economics at the University of Würzburg. Her research interests lie in the areas of labour, education and migration economics. The aim of her research projects is to explain socio-economic inequalities, especially gender differences and inequalities between people with and without a migration background. A particular focus of her work is the role of social norms and preferences in preventing existing inequalities from reducing.

After completing her PhD in Economics at the Pompeu Fabra University in Spain in 2008, she worked as an Assistant Professor (non-tenure track) at the University of St. Gallen. She is a Research Affiliate at CEPR, Research Fellow at CESIfo and the Institute of Advanced Studies, member of the Standing Committee of Population Economics and the Standing Committee of Education Economics. She is currently receiving an ERC Consolidator Grant (2021-2026) for her project "Early Origins of Social Cohesion in Increasingly Diverse Societies". Prof. Felfe was also previously a Senior Fellow of the Cluster from March - July 2022.
