Sociology with a Focus on Social Movements

Since 2021, Prof. Dr. Sebastian Koos is Professor of Social Movements at the Department of Sociology at the University of Konstanz. This professorship is part of the Cluster of Excellence "The Politics of Inequality".

Before, he was an Assistant Professor of Corporate Social Responsibility at the Department of Politics and Public Administration. He received his Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Mannheim in 2012 with a dissertation on “Corporate and Consumer Responsibility across Europe” (awarded with the dissertation award of the Karin-Islinger Foundation). In the academic year 2015/16 he was a John F. Kennedy Memorial Fellow at the Center for European Studies, Harvard University. Before coming to Konstanz he worked as a Postdoc Fellow at the Mannheim Centre for European Social Research (MZES), University of Mannheim. His research focuses on CSR, sustainable and political consumerism, employment relation, the moral economy of capitalism and pro-social behavior.
