Topic of the talk: Learning in Living Networks

The neurons in our brain constantly rewire themselves to be able to learn and predict our changing environment. Likewise, humans change their contacts and behavior depending on their preferences and the environment. Hence, both the neural network and the societal network present prime examples of adaptive, learning systems with many autonomous agents that shape their connections continuously. In this talk, we discuss the self-organization in learning living systems, demonstrating how a living neural network can autonomously learn efficient codes, and how societies might self-regulate their contacts, e.g., in the context of a pandemic, highlighting the role of self-assembly and learning in shaping living networks.
