Dr. Sanja Bauer Mikulovic, Leibniz Institute for Neurobiology, Magdeburg, Germany
Sanja Bauer Mikulovic studied biomedical engineering at the Vienna University of Technology and received her doctorate in neuroscience from Uppsala University in Sweden. She then conducted postdoctoral research in Sweden in the Department of Neuroscience on the role of specific interneuron types in the hippocampus and their importance for oscillations that underlie cognitive and emotional behavior. In 2018 she received an international postdoc grant that enabled her to carry out her research in parallel at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm and at the German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE) in Bonn. Since January 2021, she has been leading her own group dedicated to the questions of how cognition and emotion interact in the brain.
