Previous field course

The first Collective Behaviour Field Course happened in 2023. The two-week practical field course Behavioural ecology and animal communication, organized by Vlad Demartsev, Gabriella Gall, and their colleague Kyle Finn from the University of Pretoria, took place at an active field site in the Kalahari Research Centre, Northern Cape, South Africa. The course was designed to put graduate students in the field, where they gained hands-on expertise in behavioural ecology and animal communication research. Opening the door to an active field site in South Africa’s Kalahari Desert, the course trained participants in the methods, tools, and equipment used for conducting behavioural field research.
