The Methods Hub will be an integral part of the cluster, aiming at
- leveraging a broad set of methodological tools for integrating inequality,
- equipping inequality scholars with cutting-edge methodological expertise, and
- making available novel data to the scientific community.
Social Science Labs and Centers at the University of Konstanz
The Methods Hub allows our cluster’s members to access a repository of expertise, cultivate innovative research designs and generate an environment for collective learning about methodology. Five labs and centers are currently active in empirical research using methods that are of great interest to the Cluster's program. They form the methodological core of the Methods Hub. We have compiled an overview of these labs here.
SOEP Remote Access
The first accomplishment within the framework of the Methods Hub is a close partnership with the Socio-Economic Panel (SOEP) at the German Institute of Economic Research (Deutsches Institut für Wirtschaftsforschung, DIW). Through this partnership, the Cluster was able to set up a terminal for remote access to SOEP microdata, located at the Cluster building and available to all Konstanz researchers. Please find more information on how to use this remote access here.
Research Methods & Tools
This page is under construction. In the future, you will find here a list of software tools as well as an expert matrix that matches cluster PI's with their methodological expertise.
There are many methods-focused courses available for Master and doctoral students in the disciplines represented at the Cluster. Please find an overview for the current semester (winter term 2019/2020) here.
More information and services under the Methods Hub umbrella will be added soon.
