Job description

We are seeking a highly motivated candidate (f/m/d) with a strong interest in the analysis of very large graphs and the development of graph database systems. Our goal is to study how machine learning can be applied to graph query optimization. Successful candidates will have an MSc degree in computer science or related field, and experience with database implementation (e.g., storage and indexing, query processing and optimization, etc.), machine learning, as well as algorithm design and analysis.

You are enthusiastic about developing graph database systems that can scale the management and processing of complex data sets. You are excited about machine learning and the new opportunities applications it has within database systems. You wish to explore and elaborate new questions in data science and are motivated to interact with an interdisciplinary research community. If successful, your work will likely lead to highly relevant publications that form the basis for future broad applications across a range of disciplines.

The position is primarily targeted as a PhD study but also open to candidates on a junior postdoc level. The position will be available from January 2020.

For more information on the research topic, please contact Prof. Michael Grossniklaus (Databases and Information Systems, Department of Computer and Information Science, University of Konstanz): michael.grossniklaus@uni-konstanz.de
