Compliance with Non-Pharmaceutical Interventions

During epidemics, prior studies often find that acceptance of NPI measures is higher among high status social groups. But is that really the case, or is it an artifact of questioning methods, resulting in over-reporting of socially desirable behavior by certain social groups?

This module employs list experiments to investigate the truthfulness of the aforementioned, frequently reported result of survey studies on compliance. The behavior of interest here is compliance with social distancing measures, in particular (not) meeting friends and acquaintances.
